All-Star Mounted Shooters Converge on Clovis

Twenty of the nation's best Cowboy Mounted Shooters will converge on the Curry County Events Center in Clovis, New Mexico on October 15, to battle it out with blazing six-guns and high performance horses for the second Western Shooting Horse All-Star Shootout.

Presented by Western Shooting Horse Magazine, Colt Firearms, Wrangler and AJ Horses, the All-Star Shootout pits these best of the best mounted shooters against each other in a three-stage high-stakes run-off that guarantees mega-horsepower excitement and heart pounding competition and horsemanship.

The event starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 and include a one-year subscription to Western Shooting Horse Magazine. Children 12 and under with a guardian or parent are free.

Mounted Shooting is one of the fastest growing equestrian sports in the nation. Competitors use .45 caliber single action cowboy pistols that fire black powder blanks cartridges at a series of ten targets while maneuvering assorted courses. It is a fast-paced, high-speed competition in which only the best-trained and fastest horses can be used. The shooter with the fastest time and the least amount of misses takes top honors and the lion share of prizes and money.

As a special incentive, spectators with a paid ticket will receive a one-year subscription to Western Shooting Horse Magazine. Western Shooting Horse is the only national magazine dedicated to the world of mounted shooting. The bi-monthly glossy color publication covers the shooters and their horses and brings the latest and hottest information on the events, products, trainers and techniques that make up the sport.

The Western Shooting Horse All-Star Mounted Shootout takes place at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 at the Curry County Events Center in Clovis, New Mexico. All-Star Competitors Set For High Stakes Shoot-Out

Twenty of the game's most accomplished competitors have been confirmed for the second Western Shooting Horse All-Star Mounted Shoot-Out.

The high stakes competition sponsored by Western Shooting Horse, Colt, Wrangler and AJ Horses, takes place at the Curry County Event Center in Clovis, New Mexico, October 15.

Competitors invited to participate come from the level five and six categories of the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association, and include ten men and ten women. Set to compete are Annie Bianco-Ellett, Tammy Billingsley, Cody Clark, Rock Clark, Elizabeth Clavette, Natalie Johnson, Jessie Kuka, Kenda Lenseigne, Shanda Masterson, Andra Olson, Diane Holmes-Purcelli, Jimmie Allen, Dan Byrd, Jim Hanson, Chad Little, Charlie, Little, Wayne Riggs, Matt Sronce, Stu Townlian, Gary Vickers and Marcus Wadley.

The 20 All-Stars will run stage one, with the top five advancing to stage two. The remaining 15 competitors will then repeat stage one, with the top three moving to stage two. The eight semi-finalists run stage two and the five fastest will move into the finals. The top five then run stage three to determine the winner.

Payback for first place is currently in excess of $5000 in addition to a new Colt Single Action revolver. The competition will pay back first through fifth place.

The Western Shooting Horse All-Star Mounted Shoot-Out will play to a live audience on Saturday evening, October 15 starting at 7:00 p.m. The event will coincide with the annual two-day CMSA Double Points Road to the Worlds mounted shooting competition that is open to all CMSA competitors.

The Curry County Events Center in Clovis, New Mexico, is one of the nation's newest full size indoor arenas. The center features state-of-the-art equestrian facilities with covered stalls, full RV hookups, indoor concession and professional sound system. With approximately 96,000 square feet, the climate-controlled, indoor arena includes spectator seating for approximately 3,300 people and is only a one-and-a-half-hour drive from the Amarillo National Center.

Mounted Shooting All-Stars Come To Clovis

The Annual Western Shooting Horse Road To The Worlds competition that takes place October 14-16, the weekend prior to the CMSA Worlds, will add a special High Stakes All-Star Shoot-Out competition on Saturday night in front of a live audience to be filmed for future broadcast.

The three-stage match is by inviation only to competitors CMSA level five and above and limited to 20 shooters. The single open category will pay back to the top five overall, with first place receiving more than $5,000.00, a .45 caliber pistol from Colt and a winner's buckle from Gist Silversmiths.

Western Shooting Horse, Colt Firearms, Wrangler and AJ Horses are the major sponsors.

The three-stage High Stakes Shoot-Out features 20 competitors who will compete over three stages to determine the winner.

Road to the Worlds and the Saturday Night High Stakes Runoff will take place at the Curry County Events Center Indoor Arena in Clovis, New Mexico.

Western Shooting Horse Road To The Worlds is a standard CMSA six-stage double points competition that takes place on Saturday and Sunday. Also included is an Eliminator and Rifle match. Spectators are welcome to watch the Road To The Worlds competition, free of charge on Satyrday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.



Jimmie Allen - All-Star

Jimmie Allen is known as the "Big Iron." He is a CMSA Level 6 competitor who trains horses and riders. Allen holds seven national title wins as well as the 2008 Thunder Equigames overall title. His horse Barbarosa is an AQHA gelding with several titles of his own. Allen currently sit in the Top Ten of CMSA Ranked Cowboys for 2010. Watch for Allen's horse auctions at major CMSA events.

Annie Bianco-Ellett - All-Star

Annie Bianco-Ellett is a CMSA World Champion Cowgirl and one of the most recognized competitors in the sport. Her world and national champion AQHA foundation stallion, El Costa Prom is highly sought for breeding and is one of the "winningest" horses in the sport. Annie is presently marketing director for the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association for which she is also a Hall of Fame inductee.

Dan Byrd - All-Star

Dan Byrd is one of the games most recognized shooters. Currently ranked in the top ten for the CMSA season, this level 6 cowboy is one of the sport's best trainers with horses competing among the top contenders. Dan has over 20 years professional experience in the horse training industry and has also produced winning horses in Polo, Polocrosse, Eventing, Roping, Barrels, and Dressage.

Cody Clark - All-Star

Cody Clark is the youngest competitor ever to work his way up through the ranks to Men's Level 6. Together with his super horse, Gin, Cody holds two World Records and has continued to rack up major wins across the U.S. He recently won the overall title at the AQHA Battle In The Saddle and is the 2011 Southeast Regional Champion.

Rock Clark - All-Star

Rock Clark is one of the best know competitors in mounted Shooting. Voted the Best Living Cowboy by True West Magazine, Rock has held the title of Central U.S. Champion for three years in a row. Rock and his horse, Joker, is the 2011 Florida State Champion and Day of The Cowboy Overall Champion and has over 30 Overall & Reserve Championships.

Elizabeth Clavette - All-Star

Elizabeth Clavette is one of the hottest competitors on the mounted shooting circuit. Sitting in CMSA's Top Ten Cowgirl category, Clavette's name has become more prominent on the shooting scene with blistering runs and top trophy titles. She is the first Lady level 5 in Colorado. Elizabeth currently trains horses in 3-Day eventing, Colt Starting, rodeo and other Western disciplines at Star Peak Stables in Colorado.

Jim Hanson - All-Star

Jim Hanson currently sits in the top ten Cowboy category of the CMSA 2010 season. A top competitor since 2001, the Men's Level 6 Cowboy is also a horse trainer and mounted shooting clinician as well as the "J" in AJ Horses. Jim is a national spokesperson, along with business partner, Andra Olson, for Colt's Manufacturing Company, touring the U.S. as part of the Colt Stampede Tour.

Diane Holmes-Purcelli - All-Star

Diane Holmes-Purcelli is an all around cowgirl who excels in mounted shooting, roping and barrel racing. In 2009, the ladies level 6 Cowgirl brought home more than a dozen winner buckles for mounted shooting and Superhorse competition. Purcelli is also a spokesperson for NARHA, trailering her famous Mustang, Nevada Joe, to events providing therapy for handicapped children.

Natalie Johnson - All-Star

Natalie Johnson is a Dan Byrd prodigy who has taken the mounted shooting circuit by storm. She was the Ladies Reserve World Champion in 2009 and is hot on the heels of a successful 2010 Worlds. She won the Overall title at the 2010 CMSA Desert Classic and presently sits on the CMSA top ten roster. Natalie recently toured Afghanistan as part of Wrangler's National Patriot tour as a spokesperson.

Jessie Kuka - All-Star

Jessie Kuka burned up the mounted shooting circuit in 2010 with blistering wins at the CMSA Stetson Summer Classic where she took the Overall title and the CMSA Eastern U.S. Championship as top Cowgirl. When not smoking the competition, Jessie trains horses and gives shooting and riding lessons at her family farm in Minnesota. She has competed in Cowboy Mounted Shooting since 2000.

Kenda Lenseigne - All-Star

Kenda Lenseigne, reining Overall World and National Champion, four-time World Point Champion Cowgirl, and holder of six World Records, is one of Mounted Shooting's most renowned competitors. In 2009, Kenda became the first woman in CMSA history to win the Overall at a World Championship. Just 6 months later she became the first woman to win the Overall at the National Championship.

Chad Little - All-Star

Chad Little is the reigning 2010 Overall CMSA World and 2010 Overall CMSA National Champion. He and his horse, Ricochet hold 4 of the 5 Colt Eliminator Records and have broken a total of 14 world records. Chad recently took the Overall Wil Lantis Classic Championship. Other titles include 2010 AQHA Champion and 2010 Westerns Champion.

Charlie Little - All-Star

Charlie Little is the 2008 Overall CMSA World Champion. One of the most colorful shooters on the circuit, Charlie rides by the seat of his pants, taking top honors and wowing crowds nationwide. In 2009 he won the CMSA Western US Championship Overall title, as well as the 2009 Overall CMSA Eliminator Champion. Back in 2007, Charlie was Overall Reserve National Champion.

Shanda Masterson - All-Star

Shanda Masterson sits in the Top Ten Ranked Cowgirl division of the CMSA. She was the 2008 Lady's 5 World Champion and has been a top shooter at the national and regional levels. She is also one of the top competitors in Superhorse Championships, where she shoots, runs barrels, and ropes. Shanda learned her craft on her family farm in Athol, Idaho, where the Masterson's run an outfitting business.

Andra Olson - All-Star

Andra Olson has been a mounted shooter since 2001. The Ladies Level 6 competitor is a multi World and National Champion who is currently sitting among the top ten Cowgirls for the 2010 CMSA season. Olson is also owner, with business partner Jim Hanson, of AJ Horses, a mounted shooting horse-training center. Olson is the national spokesperson for Colt and travels the country competing and giving clinics.

Wayne Riggs - All-Star

Wayne Riggs is a Retired Northwest Airline Captain and two-time CMSA National High Point Cowboy who has been a solid fixture on the mounted shooting circuit for many years. This Senior Level 6 shooter gives the youngsters a run for their money with multiple wins throughout the U.S. Riggs spends summers in Rapid City and winters in Arizona with partner Lynne Merrick.

Matt Sronce - All-Star

Matt Sronce is the 2007 CMSA World Champion and a three-time CMSA National Champion. He is also a past CMSA World Record holder. He claims titles from all of the CMSA's Big 4 Championships. Matt also won his fourth back-to-back World Rifle in 2008. Matt is Chairman of the CMSA Rifle Committee, and is also an advisory board member for Western Horseman magazine.

Stu Townlian - All-Star

Stu Townlian has been a solid fixture on the mounted shooting circuit since 2000 when he placed top ten in his first World Championship. The Men's Level 5 Cowboy from Missouri has made a name for himself for his cool and consistent runs atop Billy, his ten-year-old AQHA super horse. Stu was featured on the cover of the September 2009 issue of Western Shooting Horse Magazine.

Gary Vickers - All-Star

In the past two years Gary Vickers has covered competitions coast to coast, stacking up belt buckles and landing on top more times than not. This Men's Level 6 Cowboy currently sits in the Top Ten CMSA Ranking and is a Cowboy to contend with. Gary travels with his All-Star daughter, Whitney, and often times competes against her. The two make their home in Tennessee.
