The Western Shooting Horse Association produces its own Mounted Shooting events and has adopted the rules and courses of fire of the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association (CMSA).

2:00 p.m. - Registration Open – Sign up at Arena

6:00 p.m. – Pot Luck

Friday, March 7

9:00 a.m. – Arena Open for Practice

10:00 a.m. – Registration Open – Sign up at Arena

1:00 p.m. - Eliminator - 2 Stages – 60% Payback

5:00 p.m. – True West Preservation Society Fandango/Don Edwards Concert - Buffalo Chip Saloon, Cave Creek - $25 includes All-You-Can-Eat Buffet. Pay at the door

Saturday, March 8

9:00 a.m. – Mandatory Shooters Meeting – Draw Stages

10:00 a.m. - Stages 1-3

Sunday, March 9

8:00 a.m. - Cowboy Church with Randy & Heidi Gunn – Gunnpoint Ministries

10:00 a.m. - Stages 4-6

2:00 p.m. – Awards Ceremony - Arena

Directions:

To Ben Avery Arena:

Take Arizona Interstate 17 South from Flagstaff, or north from Phoenix and exit at Carefree Highway. Go West––and pass the main Ben Avery Entry–– 1 mile to Long Shot Lane and turn right. Make an immediate left turn behind the long-range shooting range and follow the blacktop around to Horse Camp next to arena. Follow signs to camping areas.

To Buffalo Chip Saloon:

From the Ben Avery Complex go east on Carefree Highway 10.3 miles to Cave Creek Road. Turn left on Cave Creek Road and go 2.5 Miles and arrive at Buffalo Chip on your right. (Caution: Obey speed limits in Cave Creek).

Camping:

Ben Avery Shooting Range provides Dry Camping Only for horse vehicles.
Camping is $10 per site, per day and must be paid in full on first day.
Fill up and dump on site.

Horses:

Bring your own stalls and feed. There are no horse facilities at Ben Avery. Stock Water is provided. Tack & Feed stores are located nearby.
