Justin
Name: Lieutenent Justin (that spelling of “Lieutenant” is correct).
Owner: Kenda Lenseigne, three-time World Point Champion Cowgirl and two-time world record holder, bought Justin in 2004. He’d been used as a trail horse and had never been around gunfire.
Particulars: 1998 Registered Quarter Horse sorrel gelding.
Wins: He has countless overall titles, but some stand out. “At the 2005 Worlds, he won the Pro Class,” says Lenseigne, “Then moments later, he broke a world record in the Colt Eliminator. A year later at the 2006 Worlds, he again won both the Pro Class and Colt Eliminator.”
Partnership: Not immediately apparent. Lenseigne remembers, “When I started him on gunfire, he was extremely hard headed. There were times that I dreaded working with him, but I just knew that there was something there. It took over a year before I could have any sort of consistent run on him. We spent many weekends on the last page of the standings!”
What Makes Him Special: “He’s competitive in every sense of the word. He’s always first in line at the feeder. Mainly though, he has one of the biggest hearts of any horse I’ve ever known, and heart is what makes a good horse great.”
Workouts: “I try to exercise him most every day during the season. I rarely shoot or run patterns on him at home. Less is more at this point.”
Diet: Justin is on alfalfa hay and supplements. He also has been known to beg for red licorice.
Future: Lenseigne says, “Justin is exactly where I need him to be right now and is hard to beat when everything falls into place.” And while Kenda always has her eye out for another “Justin”, her focus is to enjoy the horse she has worked so hard to build. “My priority is keeping him sound and healthy so he will continue to give all that he’s got.”  Related posts:
