Mechanical Device Makes Saddle Loading a Cinch
Jim Flynn was a team roper with a problem. After tripping, lifting and wrestling saddles in and out of his horse trailer before and after events, he was tired of his shoulders, knees and elbows taking a beating. And he saw other folks having a tough time lifting their saddles on and off their stationary racks and in and out of small tack room doors.
Determined to find a solution, and using his skills as a master welder, he embarked on a mission — and the result was the Eureka! Saddlematic.
The Saddlematic is a motorized saddle rack that can be installed in almost any style horse trailer, with versions to fit front and back tack rooms. With the swing-out version, you simply pull a pin and the four saddle rack swings outside the trailer door. With the flip of the switch, a motor slowly lowers all four saddles to approximate chest-high level for easy removal, while you remain standing on the ground outside the trailer.
To stop the downward motion at any time, simply flip the switch. You can swing the Saddlematic back into your tack room — or leave it out for convenience. Upon unsaddling your horses, load your saddles back onto the Saddlematic, flip the switch to raise the rack, swing it into the tack room and lock it into place.
Saddlematic has additional motorized models that do not have the "swing-out" feature. One easily installs in most large trailers with big walk-in tack rooms. Another fixed model is a great fit in small back-entry tack areas.
Five years ago, Jim Flynn had a "Eureka!" moment as he worked to ease the process of racking his saddles. Now, you can, too. To find out more, check the Eureka! Website at www.saddlematic.com or call 303-709-3198 Related posts:
