In From The RangeOutlaw Annie Shoot for a Cure
Dare to Wear Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness.More than 100 CMSA riders are expected to participate in the 2nd Annual Outlaw Annie Shoot for the Cure. The September 3 event happens at the CMSA Sundowner Eastern U.S. Championship at Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, TN. Preliminaries are scheduled for 3pm, with finals at 7. All proceeds go to the Susan G.Komen organization of Greater Nashville, one of the largest foundations for breast cancer research in the country.
CMSA champion and Hall of Famer Annie Bianco-Ellett is the prime mover behind Shoot for the Cure. "I was inspired by the ‘Tough Enough to Wear Pink’ campaign sponsored by Wrangler at PRCA rodeo events. I wanted to do something to give back, after all the success that I’ve had in our sport". The first Shoot raised nearly $9,000 and attracted 120 competitors. Organizers hope to exceed that figure this year.
Most of the big names in CMSA are registered, including Andra Olson, Jim Hanson, Matt and Tammy Sronce (last years top lady shooter), John Clark, Stephen Wilson, Rock Clark, and defending overall champion Chad Little. All are expected to wear pink to symbolize the fight against breast cancer.
The event features a celebrity division, which will feature Country music recording artists Trent Wilmon, Daryl Singletary and Mark Willis as well as world champion PRCA cowboy Jim Beavers. A concert by Wilmon is part of the schedule.
And on Tuesday, September 2 from 2 to 5pm, Bianco-Ellett and others will offer riding and shooting instruction at the Coliseum. Guns and horses will be provided by Pro Shooters. Related posts:
